Mahomed (în arabă: محمد, transliterat: Muhammad; n. cca. 570, Mecca; d. 8 iunie 632, Medina) este întemeietorul religiei islamice și este considerat de către musulmani a fi un mesager și un profet al lui Dumnezeu, ultimul dintr-o serie de profeți islamici, conform învățăturilor din Coran.

Khadija bint Khuwaylid (Arabic: خَدِيجَة بِنْت خُوَيْلِد) (c. 554 – November 619) was the first wife of Muhammad. Born into an aristocratic clan of the Quraysh, she was an affluent merchant in her own right and was known to have a noble personality within her tribe. She employed Muhammad to manage a trade caravan to Syria and, impressed by his skills, subsequently offered him marriage, which he accepted.

The couple had two sons, Qasim and Abd Allah, and four daughters, Zaynab, Ruqayya, Umm Kulthum and Fatima. In the aftermath of Muhammad's first revelation, Khadija is credited to have been the first convert to Islam. She continued to support her husband throughout her life and died in November 619 (Ramadan BH 3); the year was reportedly termed the "Year of Sorrow" by Muhammad. Her remains are located at the al-Mu'alla in Mecca and attract many Muslims for ziyarat.

Honored by Muslims as one of the "Mother of the Believers", Khadija is considered as one of the four "ladies of heaven" alongside Fatima, Asiya, the wife of the Pharaoh, and Mary, mother of Jesus. According to Sunni Muslim tradition, Khadija had married thrice before Muhammad.

Chadīdscha bint Chuwailid (arabisch خديجة بنت خويلد, DMG Ḫadīǧa bint Ḫuwaylid; geboren um 555; gestorben um 619) war die erste Ehefrau des islamischen Propheten Mohammed und die einzige, mit der er in Einehe lebte. Sie war die Mutter seiner Töchter Zainab und Fātima sowie dreier weiterer Kinder.

ʿĀʾishah bint Abī Bakr (în arabă عائشة بنت أبي بكر, n. 614 d.Hr., Mecca, Provincia Mecca, Arabia Saudită – d. 13 iulie 678 d.Hr., Medina, Califatul Omeiad) a fost a treia soție a profetului Mahomed. . Tatăl său, Abu Bakr, a devenit primul calif după moartea lui Mahomed. Fiind soție a Profetului, i-a fost interzisă o altă căsătorie. Rămasă văduvă și fără copii, la vârsta de 18 ani, a devenit activă politic în timpul domniei celui de-al treilea calif, Uthman ibn Affan, conducând opoziția, ceea ce a dus la uciderea califului (656). A condus o armată împotriva succesorului său, Ali, care a învins-o în lupta de la Camel (Bătălia Cămilei). I s-a permis să-și trăiască restul vieții în liniște, în Medina și i se atribuie transmiterea a mai mult de o mie de Hadith.

A murit la vârsta de 65 de ani, devenind un nume recunoscut în tradiția islamică.

Zaynab bint Khuzayma (Arabic: زينب بنت خزيمة) (c. 596 – 625), also known as Umm al-Masākīn (Arabic: أم المساكين, "Mother of the Poor"), was the fifth wife of Muhammad. As a result of her early death, less is known about her than about his other wives.

Hafsa bint Umar (Arabic: حفصة بنت عمر, romanized: Ḥafṣa bint ʿUmar; c. 605–665) was the fourth wife of Muhammad and a daughter of the second caliph Umar (r. 634–644). In Islamic writings, her name is thus often prefixed by the title "Mother of the Believers" (Arabic: أمّ المؤمنين, romanized: ʾumm al-muʾminīn).

Zaynab bint Jaḥsh (Arabic: زينب بنت جحش; c. 590–641) was the first cousin and the seventh wife of Muhammad and therefore, considered by Muslims to be a Mother of the Believers.

Maymuna bint al-Harith al-Hilaliyya (Arabic: مَيْمُونَة ٱبْنَت ٱلْحَارِث ٱلْهِلَالِيَّة, romanized: Maymūna bint al-Ḥārith al-Hilālīyya; c. 594–671), was the eleventh and final wife of Muhammad. Her original name was Barra (Arabic: بَرَّة), which she changed to Maymuna—meaning "good tidings"—upon converting to Islam and marrying him, as his marriage to her marked the first time in seven years when he could enter his hometown of Mecca from Medina.

Hind bint Abi Umayya (Arabic: هِنْد ابِنْت أَبِي أُمَيَّة, Hind ʾibnat ʾAbī ʾUmayya, c. 580 or 596 – 680 or 683), better known as Umm Salama (Arabic: أُمّ سَلَمَة) or Hind al-Makhzūmiyya (Arabic: هِنْد ٱلْمَخْزُومِيَّة) was the sixth wife of Muhammad.

"Umm Salama" was her kunya meaning, "mother of Salama". She was one of the most influential female companions of Muhammad. She is recognized largely for recalling numerous Hadiths, or sayings and narrations attributed to Muhammad. Twelver Shia Muslims believe that Umm Salama was Muhammad's most important wife after Khadija.

Rayhana bint Zayd (Arabic: ريحانة بنت زيد, romanized: Rayḥāna bint Zayd; died c. 631 CE) was a Jewish convert to Islam from the Banu Nadir. Through marriage, she was also a part of the Banu Qurayza, another local Jewish tribe. During the siege of Banu Qurayza in 627, she was widowed and taken captive by the early Muslims and subsequently became a concubine and according to some also a wife of Muhammad. Their relationship produced no children and in 631 she died while in her home city of Medina.

Safiyya bint Huyayy (en árabe: صفية بنت حيي) era una mujer judía de la tribu Banu Nadir, que escapó a los 17 años, ya que se convirtió en una mujer musulmana y también se convirtió en esposa de Mahoma para que enseñara a los musulmanes que se podían casar con una judía.​ Ella fue llamada, junto al resto de las esposas de Mahoma, con el título de "Madre de los Creyentes".​

Māriyya bint Shamʿūn al Qibtiyyah, better known as Māriyyah al-Qibṭiyyah or al-Qubṭiyya (Arabic: مارية القبطية), or Maria the Copt, died 637, was a Coptic Egyptian woman who, according to Ibn Ishaq, was given as a slave to the Islamic prophet Muhammad as a gift in 628 by Al-Muqawqis, a Christian governor of Alexandria, during the territory's Sasanian occupation. It is a subject of speculation whether she married Muhammad or continued to be a concubine. She spent the rest of her life in Medina, and had a son, Ibrahim, with Muhammad. The son died in his infancy, aged 2, and she died almost five years later. Recent scholarship tends to suggest that Maria the Copt did not exist but was rather a foundational myth for Islam.

Al-Maqrizi says that she was a native of Hebenu a village located near Antinoöpolis.
